Terms

By registering as a Leave Ajar space, the venue agrees to:

  • Designate one seat or table at the venue as the Leave Ajar seat.
  • Display the Leave Ajar marker and window sticker we provide.
  • Welcome anyone who chooses to sit there, without expectation of purchase beyond your normal venue policy.
  • Display Leave Ajar materials only at the venue registered with us.
  • Notify us if the venue closes or changes significantly so we can update the map.

Leave Ajar reserves the right to remove any venue from the network that does not uphold these values.

Leave Ajar is not responsible for interactions between individuals at Leave Ajar spaces. We provide the network and materials only. Individual venues are responsible for the safety and management of their own spaces.

Responsible use

Leave Ajar is designed to facilitate friendly, casual conversation between willing adults in public spaces. It must not be used to target, solicit, or exploit any individual.

Any venue found to be operating in a way that facilitates harm to individuals will be immediately removed from the network and reported to the relevant authorities.

We reserve the right to remove any venue from the network without notice if we have reasonable grounds to believe it is being misused.

Venue duty of care

By registering as a Leave Ajar space, your venue agrees to maintain an active duty of care for anyone using the Leave Ajar seat. This means staff should be aware of the seat, check in naturally with anyone sitting there for an extended period, and feel empowered to politely intervene if any interaction appears unwanted or uncomfortable.

Leave Ajar is not a safeguarding service and cannot monitor individual interactions. Venues are the human safety net of this network. We trust you to use your judgement and act with kindness.

Subscription & billing

Your membership is an annual recurring subscription. You can cancel at any time by emailing us or through your billing provider's customer portal. Cancellations stop your next renewal, but we do not offer partial refunds for the remaining months of an active billing year.

Materials & fulfilment

We aim to review your application within 48 hours of payment and dispatch your materials shortly after. Please allow up to 28 days for delivery. We are not responsible for Royal Mail delivery delays or items lost in transit, but we will happily work with you to ensure your venue receives its materials.

Your welcome kit includes one table marker, one window sticker and a printed ghost table launch card with guidance on how to seed the seat in your venue's first weeks.
